Maggie Nation
Contributing Ally / Advisor
ObasekiChange
Maggie started her career in operations at McDonald’s where she was promoted from an hourly employee to store manager during an era when the number of women in store management were few and far between.
As a manager, she had the privilege of working with beautifully diverse teams comprised BIPOC, LGBTQ, senior citizens and differently abled team members.
After leaving McDonald’s, Maggie began specializing in creating and building brands, both agency and client-side. She worked her way to Partner at TracyLocke, where she made contributions on brands as diverse as Bombardier Private Jets, PepsiCo, Dell, UDV Spirits, and Caesars Entertainment.
Maggie was then recruited by Caesars Entertainment’s CEO to build a strategic brand management discipline to optimize its portfolio of 14 casino brands amenities (hotels, spas, pools, bars, entertainment and restaurants) and Total Rewards – the umbrella loyalty program with over 50 million members. She also managed $200M+ in media as well as all agency relationships.
Sam’s Club recruited Maggie to develop a holistic, branded Member experience journey for the $56B warehouse brand. Under her leadership, she added the data-driven disciplines of category marketing, brand management, PR, CRM and in-club communications to meet the diverse needs of Members while driving company growth.
Maggie’s history of creating successful brand experiences was why she was recruited by American Signature Furniture (ASI) to be its Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Customer Experience. In this role, she laid the foundation for a consumer-centric strategy to create a compelling omnichannel furniture buying experience.
Her reputation as a Brand Warrior has allowed her to build a robust consulting business that includes brands as disparate as Mohegan Gaming Enterprises, NowDx, Eat Real Snacks, Boxed.com, Sam’s Club and the New Mexico Tourism account.
And now, she’s thrilled to be in her most fulfilling role to date as a White Ally Advisor for ObasekiChange.
Maggie willingly fights to do the right thing whether for her team, her peers or the brands and clients she works for. She is vociferous in her commitment to be the best white ally she can for BIPOC and LGBTQ communities.
She knows white allyship is a lifelong journey and that she will make numerous mistakes throughout. But she is committed to learning from her errors and will do whatever she can to ensure other white allies benefit from both her mistakes as well as the lessons learned from them.
